An Abstract Illusion – Live Show in Oslo

1st of May, I had the amazing opportunity to attend one of An Abstract Illusion's live shows during the spring of 2026!

For those who don't know them... you have a treasure to discover! :D

An Abstract Illusion is a progressive death metal band from the northern parts of Sweden. Their soundscape has a wide range, not least showcased on their latest record "The Sleeping City" with songs on the heavier end, such as "Like A Geyser Ever Erupting," to more mellow songs, such as "Frost Flower".

In support of the Scandinavian side they had Disillusion with them. A German progressive metal band who got a groove, they got grace, and they got energy! Much like An Abstract Illusion, they also have a proclivity for making longer songs, simply more to enjoy! :)

Songs like "Alea" really showcase a good chunk of their range!

Last but not least, Terravia, the night's opener! :) A local band drawing inspiration from the likes of Opeth and TesseracT. That means djenty with a neat mix of bombasticness and aggression. Their songs have a nice variation as well, where they don't quite become formulaic. Compare "War!" to "The Origin" to get a feel! :)
