Frantic Amber and LÝSIS at Backstage

Saturday in Trollhättan was livened up by a special visit from Stockholm in the form of the melodic death metal band Frantic Amber! Bands of this kind are always particularly interesting when they consist predominantly of women, as the genre is otherwise largely dominated by men making music for a predominantly male audience.

 

Their album Bellatrix in particular focuses lyrically on female warriors throughout history. The rest of their discography also carries a strong influence from women's roles and stories in history. Since we're talking about death metal, however, these themes naturally tend to draw from the darker and more macabre side of history, as exemplified by the song Angel Maker.
