Inside MILA Workspace: A Hub for Female Entrepreneurs

An afternoon at MILA Workspace, a co-working space in Gothenburg, Sweden

A few minutes’ walk from Gothenburg Central Station, we find MILA Workspace.  The co-working space is run by entrepreneur Sofia Lewerin. She came up with the idea for a workspace for women entrepreneurs while renting an office herself a few years ago, when she was founding her own photography and videography production company.  “Only 30 percent of entrepreneurs are women, and only 1.4% of venture capital goes to female founders. We need to change this,” says Sofia. These figures are confirmed by ALMI and Tillväxtverket, and they are even lower than in many other European countries.

Over the past year, MILA has become a popular hub for entrepreneurs across different fields.

Members enjoy a network of like-minded women and a supportive environment for collaboration.

This is a place where women grow as entrepreneurs. They network, join events, attend workshops, and receive mentorship. According to Sofia, the workspace is not only valuable for the individual—it also aims to improve the overall situation for female entrepreneurs in Sweden.

It is clear that MILA Workspace is more than just an office. It is a place to focus on building businesses, but also to build community.
